“There are all these niche networks now, and that’s where you’re really going to benefit. You’re going to get your biggest bang for your buck,” Julio Lucas says. “The key is, use your demo. Do your shotgun e-blasting. See what’s out there. Once you find out who is really interested, that’s where you’re going to focus your time and attention.”

  • Understand your target demographic. “This is all based on what people have done in the past,” says Lucas. When you get to know the habits of your demographic, you’ll be able to put your message in front of your buyer. If your target is bankers, know at what times of the day those individuals may be checking their social media, whether it’s before 9a.m.; after 5p.m. at that moment, post something impactful.

By | In the news, Julio Lucas

Where to start with Julio Lucas? He’s a 32-year-old illustrator, web designer, photographer, athlete and Ringling School of Art and Design graduate who won first place in the 2014 iPhone Photography Awards. He’s an adventurer who loves climbing, flying and the outdoors. “At first I didn’t realize how important the competition is to so many people,” he says, “but after seeing all the pictures that were submitted, I soon realized I had been part of a wonderfully talented, creative event.”

Lakewood Ranch resident Julio Lucas named iPhone photographer of the year!

By | In the news, Julio Lucas

MANATEE — All you need to know about Lakewood Ranch resident Julio Lucas can be found on his Twitter profile: “I’m a digital strategist, artist, creative professional & social-sharer. In short I’m just a simple guy that likes to be on the move… Enough said time to go.”

Now, Lucas might also add his first-place honor as Photographer of the Year in the 2014 iPhone Photography Awards.

Lucas went all the way to southern Argentina to capture his award-winning image of a desolate but beautiful Patagonian glacier. His guide, shown in the lower, left-hand corner, helps provide a sense of scale to the photo.

“We had to climb the side of a mountain and cross an ice bridge to get there,” Lucas said. “It was such a surreal environment, and we had to walk about six hours on ice in full trekking gear.”

Lucas had been shooting landscapes with a single-lens reflex camera when he decided to try to take some panoramic shots with his iPhone camera. The wind was too blustery to hold the camera steady, and he decided instead to shoot a simple photo of the remarkable scene: an icy mountain range and a glacier split by blue fissures. The scene looks extraterrestrial. Read More
