Azpurua Stable runs its operation in a 21 acre farm located within a horse complex called Starting Point, just a few miles northwest of Ocala. The farm has 2 barns with stall space for 60 horses. Each barn has an European walker and a round pen. There is plenty of space for turnouts, lay ups and rehabs in the 10 medium size paddocks. There is a large paddock for broodmares. The farm sits in front of the 5/8 mile track. There is also a house where the farm manager lives and 4 apartments where most of the employees reside.
The track is a 5/8 irrigated track with a 4 stall professional starting gate. This track has produced many stake winners throughout the years and is extremely well maintained by the complex managment. “I have broken more than 1000 horses in this track, there is a very low chance of track related injuries. The track is the heart of every horse racing operation, if the track is no good, everything else is worthless”
The track has a high volume of trainning horses. This horse traffic gives the horses a real sense of what they will really experience when they go to the racetrack. “Believe it or not, this makes a significant difference in the breaking process, horses that are broken in this track, are used to the racetrack atmosphere before they actually get there, that gives them an advantage”.
